PRESIDENT
Betsy Hall - Clarendon Street, started two businesses and partnered in a third before moving into non-profit management at the Boston Public Library where she was Executive Director of the Associates of the BPL from 2000-2012. She moved to the South End in 1995, has been on the Ellis board in various capacities and is currently serving as its President.

CHAIR
Regina Pyle - Clarendon Street, was born and raised in Manhattan and moved to “The Church” in 2006 after living for 35 years in various Newtons and Cambridge. Now retired, her varied career focused on education via systems analysis and project management. She has served on the Ellis Board since 2009 and currently serves as Chair.

VICE PRESIDENT
John Chambers - Tremont Street, is originally from Paducah, Kentucky, and is currently an Assistant VP for Cambridge Trust Company and Branch Manager for the South End location. John moved to Boston in 1988 and has previously worked in sales management healthcare administration. He enjoys giving back to the community and is involved with several local non-profits.

VICE PRESIDENT
John Alekna - Tremont Street, grew up in South Boston and has been active in a variety of local business and civic groups over the years. A 1983 graduate of Babson College, he began his current professional career at Merrill Lynch and is currently a Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management division.

TREASURER
Michael Hall - Clarendon Street, has been a South End Resident for the last 28 years and has served on the Ellis Board for many of them, most recently as President and Treasurer. A Certified Public Accountant for the last 34 years, he is currently employed by R. J. Gold & Company, P.C.

SECRETARY
Jane Siegel - West Canton Street, has lived at her current address for 40 years. Retired from the Juvenile Court Clinic, she now serves as a faculty advisor at Boston University’s School of Social Work. An antiques dealer, she is also involved in the South End Seniors.

DIRECTORS

Patty Brennan - Montgomery Street, moved to the South End from New York City in June 2005. She works as an Account Director for The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, AZ. She volunteers with Saint Cecilia Parish and the Animal Rescue League of Boston. She loves animals, being outdoors and leads an active lifestyle.

Gretchen Chauncey - Chandler Street, originally from Westport, CT, is the general manager of both the Chandler Inn Hotel and Chandler Studios. She began working at The Chandler Inn Hotel in2001 and has witnessed many changes to the South End over the past 14 years. She has been living in Boston's Back Bay since 1997.

David Crowley - Gray Street, originally from the Merrimack Valley (Lawrence & Lowell), he has been a neighborhood resident since 1993. He is President of One Boston Real Estate, a luxury residential sales, marketing & consulting firm affiliated with Wm. Raveis Real Estate. David has been a board member since 2000 and has previously served The Ellis as its President and Vice President.

Leo Delaney - Berkeley Street, joined Ellis Memorial in 1986 and currently serves as CEO. Hired to assess the organization’s long-term viability, Leo vowed to keep Ellis open, restructuring programs and staffing to address earlier inefficiencies. Ellis is now recognized for its contributions to Boston’s working families, especially low-income families in the South End and neighboring communities. He lives in Roslindale with his wife AnneMarie.

Paul Duffy - Clarendon Street, was born and raised in Boston’s South End and has remained a lifelong resident. He took a role in improving the South End as a real estate developer and subsequently founded O’Ryan, Lopez & Chin, a real estate maintenance company, which he owned and operated from 1986 to 1998. Paul is a Charter Member of the Ellis South End Neighborhood Association as well as other local organizations.

Anthony Gordon - Stanhope Street, has had business and investment interests in Boston for over 35 years. He is a long term resident in the neighborhood and has been involved with, and at times represented, Ellis on development and licensing matters.

Bill Gregor - Appleton Street, is a retired general management consultant with over thirty-five years’ experience consulting to financial services firms on five continents. When not in the South End you can usually find him skiing or sailing. A former Ellis Chair, he has served the Association in many capacities and is currently chair of the Ellis Wine Group and an Ellis Marshal in Boston’s Pride Parade.

John Herbert - Gray Street

Barbara Hoffman - St. Charles Street, originally from London, England has lived in the South End for 14 years and has been on the Ellis Board for most of that time. She is retired but worked in the field of education and libraries for many years. Her last job was at Cambridge Friends School. She is an enthusiastic member of South End Seniors and volunteers for Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz.

Gordon Holmes - Clarendon Street, has lived in the Ellis neighborhood since the mid 90's and has been on the Ellis Board for 15 years. He is a retired CPA, currently teaching accounting and finance at Bentley University and, during the winter months, participates in an AARP tax-preparation program at the South End library.

Yvonne Lee - Chandler Street, is currently an Intellectual Property (IP) attorney at WilmerHale. Her practice involves patent prosecution, patent litigation and other patent-related matters. Before law school, Yvonne performed solo and chamber music throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She also taught at various schools, including at the Community Music Center (CMCB).

Ed MacLean - Clarendon Street, has been a resident of the South End since 1991, currently living in the clock tower at the 2 Clarendon Street church building with his spouse, Steven Avruch. He is an award winning landscape designer and owner of the South End based, Potted UP, a boutique landscape design, install, and maintenance firm specializing in creating customized garden spaces.

Toby Rodman - Tremont Street, is an attorney with a broad range of experience in government, private practice and public interest law. Most recently she has worked with the Women's Bar Foundation abuse protection program. She is active in a variety of community service organizations. She is on the executive board of the Ward 5 Democratic Committee.

Marie Schappert - Appleton Street, has lived in the South End since 2002 when she was recruited as VP Sales at Houghton Mifflin. She enjoys gardening, collecting art and learning about architecture and photography. Since joining the Ellis, Marie has participated in many of the events and as a new Director, is eager to dedicate her ingenuity and enthusiasm to the Ellis committees.

Ellen Sheets - Chandler Street, is a recent transplant to the South End from Concord, MA. Currently she is the chief medical officer at a Lexington based venture company but started her Boston career as a gynecologic oncologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She is also on the board of Partners Healthcare's Innovation Fund and the BU-Fraunhofer Alliance Board.

Carol Trust - Chandler Street, is the Executive Director of the National Association of Social Workers, the Massachusetts Chapter, and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker.

Ken Tutunjian - Tremont Street, has lived in the South End for seven years. For the last 23 years he has been a Senior Vice President for Coldwell Banker Real Estate. He currently manages the two Back Bay and Beacon Hill offices. Prior to real estate he was a museum curator locally with a specialty in American Furniture.

Kim Schultz - West Canton Street, has been a South End resident for the past 2½ years. For the past 25 years she has volunteered at various organizations whose mission was to solve issues that affect women and children in our communities who suffer from abuse and neglect, most recently with the Boys and Girls Club focusing on helping middle school girls become self-sufficient.

Mike Worhach - Chandler Street, has had a long career in Information Technology and has worked in various senior management roles in sales, marketing and executive management. He currently provides IT consulting services to companies entering Asian markets. Mike moved to the South End in 2008 and joined the Ellis Board in 2014.
