PRIDE PARADE - 2015

Starting at noon on June 13th, a glorious Saturday afternoon in early summer, an estimated million spectators will cheer over 15,000 people marching from Boylston Street to City Hall Plaza (by way of the South End) in Boston’s Pride Parade.  They will represent numerous churches, schools, associations, clubs, companies, politicians, bars and sports teams but [still] only ONE Boston neighborhood association.  I am proud to say that the one neighborhood association is the Ellis South End Neighborhood Association.   Please join your Ellis, and other South End, neighbors for an easy, fun walk in a very important parade.  (See http://www.bostonpride.org/parade/ for info.)  The route isn’t posted yet but think starting on Boylston in Copley Square, Clarendon to Tremont to Berkeley, back to Boylston, down to Charles, up Beacon by the State House and on to City Hall Plaza—about 2 miles at a gentle, dancing amble.  The parade does take place rain or shine, so don’t be daunted by the very small chance of a sprinkle or two.

If you’re not an Ellis member, march (& party) with us and ask your neighborhood association to consider officially marching next year.  If you’ve got special T shirts, they’re fine to wear but the parade rules only allow one banner.

Now for the bribe part—marchers will receive:
Coffee and munchies at 9:30ish in the lovely garden of Ellen Sheets and John Yates at 109 Chandler St.  We may not know our position in the parade until that morning so it will be safest if we meet up to have some munchies, distribute paraphernalia, and let folks know our parade position and post-parade party address.  Make sure we have your cell phone # for last minute location changes.
An official Ellis T shirt (We have a modest inventory so if you’ve got one, please wear it.  If you don’t or it’s faded from parading, let me know your size.)
A very classy Pride flag
An Ellis button
A bottle of water
An EWG sponsored “Beer, Caipirinhas & Barbeque” following the parade (featuring the sacred Ellis Pride Piñata)

A few details:  Let us know by email if you can join us this year so we’ll make sure to have enough Cachaça.  If you can’t meet us at Chandler St, look for us on Boylston or a side street—we’re usually toward the front of the parade and will have our gorgeous Ellis banner and lovely T shirts.  If you’re running late (or want a shorter walk), join us at the BCA Plaza, or elsewhere, as we cross through the South End.
If you can’t march with us, you can purchase access to the “Best-in-Boston” Beer, Caipirinhas & BBQ without marching for the low EWG member price of $25.  Send your check by 6/10 payable to:  "Ellis Neighborhood Assoc", c/o Bill Gregor, 92 Appleton St., Boston, 02116.  Please include the name(s) of those who will be attending and we’ll let you know where to meet us.  Also, if you give us your cell phone number (marchers too, please) we can let you know if we finish early.

Questions?  Contact Ellis Marshalls Bill Gregor at elliswine@mindspring.com (Cell:  617-510-9534) or John Chambers at john.chambers@cambridgetrust.com.
Sorry, no refunds after 6/10 for the folks looking for a good time in a lovely garden without marching.
