Ellis South End Neighborhood Association

Community Outreach

This committee will partner with South End organizations in order to offer various volunteer opportunities to our members and groups. The goal of the committee is to create a variety of volunteer opportunities, to increase visibility of the Ellis, and to showcase the organizations without any financial commitment. Contact Meghan Dichiara or Carol Caporizzo at info@ellisneighborhood.org for more information.

Development, Licensing, and Zoning
This committee works on zoning and building issues that may affect the neighborhood. Among other issues, the committee is involved in the BRA urban renewal initiative and looking at 2024 implications. This committee also reviews license applications which may affect the neighborhood that come before the City of Boston Licensing Board and the Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing. All neighbors are welcome to attend, and Ellis members are invited to join the committee. Please contact us for more at info@ellisneighborhood.org for information.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
The DEI Committee will advise and assist the Ellis Board of Directors and members in our collective efforts to embrace diversity, promote equity, and create an inviting and inclusive environment for all members of our community. The committee works to welcome all neighbors regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, faith, nationality, age, and socioeconomic status. Please contact Ellis' DEI Chair Julie Arnheiter at julieteelarnheiter@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

This committee plans social events for Ellis Members and residents so that they can get to know each other better. Current events are announced on the home page. These events include political and civic forums, new member parties, Wine Tastings, the Book Group, an Annual Progressive Dinner and often include a community yard sale, walking tour, Halloween block party, fundraiser extravaganza and Easter Egg Hunt. Ideas and participation are encouraged! Email Jasmine Murray at info@ellisneighborhood.org with any questions.

This committee is responsible for recruiting new members and maintaining the current membership of the Ellis. The Membership committee also hosts several events, including the New Member and Membership Appreciation parties. With the Events Committee, Membership helps develop events such as Patio Dinners and the annual Progressive Dinner. The Ellis South End Neighborhood Association is a supporter of young families and the neighborhood is a great place to raise a family. We are particularly interested in developing projects and initiatives for the young families in our community. Neighborhood Services
Our largest committee works with the neighborhood and City Hall to enhance the beauty and efficiency of the neighborhood, including trash issues, trees, Neighborhood Clean-up, public nuisance and awareness, thereby actively involved in improving the quality of life in the Ellis neighborhood. The focus includes street, tree and sidewalk maintenance, trash collection, litter and snow removal as well as public safety, parking and crime. Each spring and fall we promote and participate in the South End's "Cleanup" project sponsored by Boston. For further information contact info@ellisneighborhood.org
